Kris Allen Quartet brings a powerhouse lineup of acclaimed jazz artists to The River Room for an evening of adventurous, deeply swinging music. Saxophonist, composer, and educator Kris Allen has earned praise for his “subtlety, suppleness and sense of urgency,” and his latest release, June , received 4.5 stars in DownBeat . A Connecticut Artist Fellowship recipient and Williams College’s Lyell B. Clay Artist-in-Residence in Jazz, Allen has performed with artists including Illinois Jacquet, Gerald Wilson, Jimmy Greene, the Mingus Dynasty, and the Curtis Brothers. Joining him are guitarist Tony Davis, whose genre-crossing work weaves Afro-Latin traditions, folk, rock, classical music, jazz, and blues; Connecticut-born, New York-based bassist Matt Dwonszyk; and internationally celebrated drummer Richie Barshay, known for his work with Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Esperanza Spalding, and many more.
