From August 7–9, 2026 , Great Mountain Forest (GMF) will host its First Annual Writers Retreat at the historic Yale Camp in Falls Village.
This immersive three-day retreat invites writers of all levels to reflect on the life and legacy of prolific writer, longtime New York Times nature columnist, and outdoorsman Hal Borland , who wrote about this very landscape.
The retreat will consist of a series of six carefully curated workshops led by award winning authors and experts in the field.
Through a blend of field observation, reflective writing, and intellectual discussion , attendees will engage not only with language — but with the land itself.
Participants will have the opportunity to submit work developed during the retreat to an online anthology , to be published this fall.
Meals and refreshments are included, and optional accommodations are available.
Special Early bird registration through May 31; Final registration is deadline, July 24.
Request for the Student discount may be made via email.
Enrollment is limited to foster engagement between presenters and attendees.
