Join us at one of our favorite, local gems!

We will complete a simple, short hike together at North Cove & Great Meadow Conservation Preserve.

Whether you are a hiking expert, a bird watcher or just looking to hang out with friends, this is a great way to get outdoors!

We will park and meet at the Pettipaug Yacht Club (145 River Rd, Essex, CT 06426) and set up scopes for viewing birds on the river which could include eagles, ducks, and other more common birds.

Jim Denham will talk about birds that we are viewing, distinguishing markings, habitat, feeding habits, and such.

We'll then proceed past the Essex Boat Club and on to Great Meadows noting and viewing birds on the way.

To find the parking area, from River Road, look for small white signs (P.Y.C and E.B.C.) and make the turn.

This small road looks like a driveway.

There are signs on it that say for "Members Only".

We have an invitation, please come in.

The dirt road goes toward the river and then turns right.

From there you will see the building.

Parking is behind it.

Meet us on the porch facing the river.

Please check the weather to have appropriate attire and waterproof footwear!

Bring a water bottle and binoculars if you have them. (We will have some on hand.) Rain will cancel.

If this is your first gathering, you will need to fill out a waiver ahead of time.

This will help us get straight to the fun!

You can find it here: WaiverSign.

You will need to select one of three options: 1.

For yourself (if you are over 18) 2.

For a Minor (if you are under 18) 3.

For a Parent/Guardian and Minor Thank you.

This event is free and facilitated solely by volunteers.

We kindly suggest a donation of $5 per participant so that we can continue providing materials and venues for our events.
